Wonderful. But it's full of poignant irony foreshadowing the bird's death from being "shot." West is the direction of the Western Paradise (the Pure Land in Buddhism, where the devout go after their death). But at the same time, the bird is a sign of good fortune, and not a sparrow falls that is not in the sight of the Buddha (or God, if one is a Christian).
I don't remember how I stumbled on this photo, but it led me to your journal, where I must say the writing is quite amazing.
